The Geneva Preschool is 1 of only 3 preschools in the Greater Johnstown Area to meet the rigorous licensing criteria set by the PA Department of Education in order to become a Private Academic Preschool.  We are the only academically certified preschool in Johnstown that strives to establish a foundation for spiritual growth and Christian values.

 

Our director/teacher, Kristen Kane, has a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy, and loves to incorporate music into the curriculum. She has held various teaching positions over the years, from preschool all the way to community college. She has two children who both attended the Geneva Preschool prior to entering Kindergarten.

 

Our co-teacher, Jayna Mood, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling with a Child Focus. She also has a daughter who attended the Geneva Preschool prior to entering Kindergarten.

 

Both of our teachers hold a Private Nursery/Kindergarten School Teacher Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Additionally, they have been trained in first aid and CPR.

Our program for 3-year–olds meets Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00-11:15. It is designed for children involved in their first-time school experience. A giant, but gentle step between home and school, this program focuses on social skills, active listening, and learning through play. It also provides an introduction to academics, including writing, letters, colors, shapes, and numbers.

 

Our program for 4-year-olds meets Monday through Thursday from 12:00-3:00. It emphasizes writing, pre-reading, and math skills, to prepare students for the next big step in their lives: the transition to Kindergarten.

         I am not sure if I can pick just one thing about such a wonderful preschool to share..... I guess what made me send my son there was the fact that we had a terrible preschool experience elsewhere, and when I took Griff to the Geneva Preschool, they were so warm and loving, yet firm enough to teach the children so many things from how to play and share with others, to things like counting, colors, alphabet, shapes and even how to read!! In Griff's final year they even taught him the 50 states (via song that Griff still knows to this day!) If you would like your child to head into Kindergarten well rounded and prepared this is a wonderful choice!! I know I am so lucky and blessed to have these wonderful ladies and preschool be the building blocks for my son!

         Not only are they fantastic teachers inside the classroom, but outside as well. I'm appreciative of the attention they give to their students outside of the school. Whether it be thank you notes, get well cards, or best wishes for kindergarten notes, these ladies go above and beyond!

         Our 3 children have gone through the Geneva Preschool.  They use multiple teaching approaches to facilitate learning, utilizing crafts, music, and tactile cues just to name a few.  The small class size and low student-to-teacher ratio can’t be beat.  Our older children’s grade school teachers have commented on how easily our children, as well as others that have come from Geneva Preschool, have transitioned and how well prepared they are for the learning environment ahead.  The teacher/parent communication through phone, text, and social media is a great benefit as well.  We are pleased with our outcomes and would highly recommend Geneva Preschool to other parents searching for the right fit for their child.

         We are so glad we chose to send our son to Geneva Preschool. He started his first year as a timid introvert but has really grown academically, emotionally, and socially. The state certified teachers have ensured all of his academic needs have been met and he is even beginning to read books on his own. The teachers are always willing to work with us about any concerns we have and the daily communication with them helps us feel like we are active participants in the educational process. We will be sending our other children in the years to come and we know that our son is more than ready for kindergarten in the fall.

          I could honestly write a book about how much we LOVE and appreciate Mrs. Kane and Mrs. Mood. Even though our daughter is our spirited child at home, they both have been the biggest blessings as her first teachers. I am forever grateful for them and the time they put into EVERY.SINGLE.activity. And the music?! Sooo near and dear to my heart, and my daughter is sooo receptive to it and sings everything when she comes home! I just can't say enough good things about them both. God is using them so much for these children and I'm so inspired by what they do! Parents should make the best choice for their circumstances, goals and children's needs when searching for the perfect fit for their child's first school experience. We certainly did our research for our daughter, as she had no prior experience being away from me, a stay at home mother. We knew immediately that the Geneva Preschool was her PERFECT fit. Having an Education and Child Development background myself, Mrs. Kane and Mrs. Mood have absolutely exceeded my expectations. Our daughter is well-cared for, growing spiritually, and learning SO much daily. Her social, emotional, and cognitive skills have improved tremendously in just 5 short months. There is truly not one negative aspect to this program. We can't pinpoint one specific thing that we love most because it is the absolute best program around!!

          We spent 4 years with our 2 kids at Geneva and can't say enough about our family's experience!! The education, both academically and socially, provided by the teachers is top-notch. Our kids entered kindergarten with an incredible base, academically and socially, to build on. Their transition into regular school was very easy. The teachers at Geneva are amazing! Their ability to teach 3 and 4 year olds so much is incredible. They provide a safe and comfortable environment that is necessary for not only the kids but the parents too!!           We are writing because our little girl goes to the Geneva Preschool. The teachers are amazing; they are very caring and loving with their students!! We also love the way they teach the kids how to spell their names with songs. We are so impressed with everything they teach. In our eyes, as parents, this is the best preschool to send your child to in the area.
